This Privacy Policy explains how Scope ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use the Scope app on your Shopify store. By installing Scope, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect only the information necessary to provide the service.
When you install Scope, we access your Shopify store through the official Shopify API. This includes:
We access only the data required to process invoices and update inventory. We do not access customer data, order history, or payment information.
When you upload an invoice or forward an email to invoices@scopeinventory.com, we receive and store the PDF temporarily. This file is processed by our AI to extract product and inventory data, then used to populate your review queue. PDFs are retained only as long as needed for processing and review, and are deleted after the invoice is approved or dismissed.
If you use the email forwarding feature, you register one or more email addresses in Scope settings. We store these addresses to authenticate incoming forwarded emails. Email messages received are processed to extract invoice PDFs and then deleted. We do not store the body of forwarded emails beyond what is needed to extract attachments.
We store basic account information tied to your Shopify store, including your billing plan, invoice processing history (counts and dates), and vendor profile settings you create within the app. We may also collect anonymized usage metrics (such as feature usage frequency) to improve the product.
We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve the Scope service. Specifically:
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you uninstall Scope from your Shopify store, we delete your store data, vendor profiles, invoice history, and any stored credentials within 30 days. Invoice PDFs are deleted after processing is complete (typically within 24 hours). You may also request earlier deletion by contacting us at scopehelp@proton.me.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard encryption. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only. We do not store your Shopify admin password at any time. Authentication is handled entirely through Shopify's official OAuth system. For more detail, see our Security page.

For GDPR requests (EEA and UK users): we will respond within 30 days. For CCPA requests (California residents): we honor all opt-out and deletion requests within 15 business days. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at scopehelp@proton.me.
The Scope app itself does not use tracking cookies. Our marketing website (this site) may use basic analytics to understand page traffic. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy.
Scope is a business application intended for use by Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data through our service, please contact us at scopehelp@proton.me and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Scope app or by email. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of Scope after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
